We are headed to Tucson for a week and a half of biking, running, fishing and glorious warm sun! We are shipping our bikes in advance and decided to try out AirCaddy Bike Boxes and ship them with ShipBikes.com. We’ve shipped bikes before with smaller bike boxes, but wanted to try something that didn’t require as much disassembly and the AirCaddy bike boxes seemed to fit the bill. Hopefully the bikes will arrive safely. Subscribe to our Youtube channel to find out!
To be honest, I was planning to do a quick and dirty review of the Gino Mount, but I thought it would make a more interesting video if I interviewed Gino himself since he now lives in Portland. So in this vid, we get the back story of how Gino’s idea came into production with Paul Components.
In this vid, we nerd out on randonneuring bikes and low trail forks with Starmichael from Norther Cycles! Definitely a destination bike shop if you’re visiting Portland. Subscribe to our Youtube Channel to get notifications of our next shop visit!
Portland is said to have 80 bike shops! We are kicking off a series trying to find the most unique ones and do a little profile on them. Rivelo is one of our favorites because they sell so much more than just bikes! In this video we talk with John about the shop and some of the history and philosophy of Rivendell bikes. We love that people are rediscovering the humble, US-made and utilitarian Wald basket again! In this vid, we show you a simple hack to turn it into a quick release basket, making it easier to box your bike and fit on bus/car racks easier.
This might be our most ambitious ride video yet (it is certainly our toughest one so far). In this vid, we ride to the iconic Mueller Tunnel via the steep, car free, mixed terrain Mt. Lowe. This is a classic ride that is brutal in it steepness in the early miles. If you can get over those first two miles, the rest is not so bad. It truly is an amazing destination ride!
Yay! The latest Oregon Scenic Bikeway we filmed is out. This one is one of our favorite parts of Eastern Oregon – the Painted Hills.
In this video we ride one of our favorite gravel climbs in the valley! The Verdugo Mountains are a small mountain rain right in the middle of Los Angeles. On this route, we ride to the ridge of the Verdugos to the iconic Tree of Life. When you’re on the ridge line you get great views of Mt Lukens on one side and the San Fernando Valley, downtown Los Angeles and even the ocean on the other side!
When is a bike shop MORE than just a bike shop?! When its an outpost! Topanga Creek Outpost is a unique shop tucked in the mountains of Topanga State Park and is a great example of a newer generation of bike shop that focuses on the customer experience. Chris and crew do their best to outfit their customers with the best fitting bike. They also lead weekly mountain bike rides as well as inspire others to go bike touring and bikepacking.
