A New Zealand Descent
Just a quickie video from today’s ride. Descending on S25 into the small town of Tairua. It was twisty and turny and quite a thrilling ride. One of our best descents so far on this trip. Total length was about 8 minutes but it is obviously sped up in the video. Enjoy.

Geez it’s freaky watching those cars come at you from the right lane! Have you gotten used to it yet?
Looks like fun. Why are you salmoning?
Why are you riding in the middle of the road? Ride on the left and you’ll be less likely to be hit from behind. For experienced tourers you’re not setting a good example…
So awesome! love the way you changed the vid speed. Was that with the new camera or the GoPro??
Fred – we’ve found that on high speed descents riding on the edge will cause you to get into more accidents. Riding in the middle when you are moving fast keeps you from falling off the berm as well as maintaining visibility with vehicles behind you. It also signals to cars behind you that it unsafe to pass. We move to the edge when it is safe for everyone to pass but to ride there the whole time is inviting trouble.

Ben – they ride on the left side here so we’re not salmoning 🙂
