Too long! And because you’ve already released bits of it before I had to keep skipping forward to avoid seeing the same bits twice. Why not just release the vids in short chunks? — I can always make time for a 5 min break, but if I see a vid is going to be 15 mins, of which I have already seen 10 mins, I probably won’t bother to watch it!
Sorry to hear about your experience in New Zealand, even though the Stuff article has the wrong link I found your site.
Good luck on your travels. Kiwis are TERRIBLE drivers so watch out! But there is no excuse for what happened. I hope that one person does not ruin your experience and good luck with the rest of your trip.
I’m sorry to hear about your troubles in Wellington. I hope the rest of your trip goes more smoothly.
So sorry to hear what happened. I live in newtown. I am embarrassed on behalf of newtown’s residents. Even though you saying the man was foreign to new Zealand it is still a blot on our name. God speed
Really sorry to read about the road rage. It is absolutely shameful. An embarrassing day to be a New Zealander. I hope you enjoy the rest of your trip.
i live in wgtn too and am ashamed that someone attacked you!!! he has issues and i am sorry our lovely city is tanished cos of his stupidness!!!
happy travels
Hi Guys, really sorry about what happened to you. Wellington is such a great place, so don’t let one idiot spoil it for you. He is an absolute clown!!! Keep cycling on and enjoy our beautiful country 🙂
I am so sorry you had such an appalling experience!! If you are ever in Dunedin feel free to contact me and I’ll shout you guys a pizza 🙂 Hell, you can even crash at my place if you want.
Read about the drama in Newtown, I am a keen cyclist and motorcyclist and I’m embarrassed that a fellow NZer would act in such a angry violent way to you both. Disgusting. Please be assured that this is generally a small minority – most kiwis are pretty good value and friendly. Hopefully the cops catch up with that guy. Hope the rest of your trip is awesome. Not sure but I suspect you are heading south now. You’ll love the South Island the McKenzie country and south canterbury is wonderful. Enjoy! Kind regards Steve.
I hope the idiot who punched you in Wellington gets charged. Unfortunately that’s’ NZ. I emigrated to NZ 17 years ago and after similar incidents have given up cycling on our roads. I wish like others I could say this is not typical of NZ, but it is. If you want a great holiday in NZ don’t do it on a bicycle!
Hey sorry to hear about your incident in Wellington. That’s totally lame and I hope you are both ok!
From a fellow cycle tourist just back from an 8 month SE Asia trip.
cheers
Mark (Lyttelton)
P.s. drop us a note if you need somewhere to stay in Chch/Lyttelton.
Thanks for your vocal exposure of the sorry state of NZ cycle touring. NZ shared-road cycling needs all the bad press it can get.
Hopefully the shame will eventually influence our bad transport planners and car-driver-lobby-pandering government to rethink their blinkered idea of good transport options. BTW – please contact Stephen Joyce directly with your concerns, I’m sure he’ll be highly sensitive to your views (not!).
NZ is so far behind, it really is embarrasing.
I had a similar experience, minus the assult, in Johnsonville a few days back!
Get in touch if you need a place to crash, an internet connection, or a warm shower while you are here in WGTN.
Good to see you two are doing well! Glad the incident with the brake pad wasn’t worse.
By the way, what the hell happened that knocked out an entire brake pad? Did it just wear down that far? Crazy…
Looking forward to meeting up next time you’re back in Portland!
