      I believe you two were being pelted by graupel (also spelled groppel), often called soft hail. I never saw it on the east coast, but now see it annually at higher elevations in Colorado.

      Hope you have no more grappling with graupel for awhile!

      I am still cross country skiing up in this part of AZ, but it is a lot warmer today. Skiing is fun, but today I wish I were in Yuma, where it is supposed to be about EIGHTY DEGREES today.

      Best wishes in your travels. Every day I read your site, and think to myself I shouldn’t be wussing out on biking. But I have been wussing for sure. Well, at least I am skiing.

      Here’s to wusslessness! Keep on pedaling!
